lyrics

Lisa showed up to school today with her hair in a mess
cause she was running late
dropped her books and papers on the classroom floor.
The students laughed, professor pointed to the door,
said "you've been tardy one too many times,
you failed this semester, but thanks again for trying."

So Lisa clocks in at her job at the store
with tears in her eyes, she knows there's gotta be more
than to stocking shelves for the next forty years.
She's done with it all cause her greatest fear
is becoming her parents,
forgetting what it's like to be young and jaded to losing every fight.
She lies when says she's alright
but she's got plans for herself tonight.

She bought a one way ticket on a westbound train
Leaving town, never coming back again
With a duffel bag on her shoulder, throws her cell phone in the grass.
Cause if she's gonna do it, she'll do it on her own
She's not homesick, she's just sick of her home.
Wipes away the mascara as she her last look at her past.
Oh and if you need to find her, she'll be riding on that train tonight.

Sean graduated college and found
that the real world finally caught up to him now.
He's got bills to pay, but dreams to chase.
He'll never accomplish them staying in one place.
So he lifts up his anchor, raises his sails
with a degree in his pocket for a plan B if he fails.

He said "California's been calling me.
I wanna get a house two blocks from the beach
where I can play my guitar, meet a sunny-haired girl
who'll teach me to surf, then I'll travel the world."
Left a note on the fridge for his parents to find,
packed his things and rode off into the night.
With so much opportunity,
he said "I gotta do this one for me."

He bought a one way ticket on a west bound train
Leaving town, never coming back again.
He hums along with the engines as they take him somewhere else.
Cause if he's gonna do it, he'll do it on his own
Though South Jersey's always gonna be his home,
by exploring every option, Sean will make a name for himself.
Oh and if you need to find him, he'll be riding on that train tonight.

On that train...
