The Tragedy of Gravity
03:19
|
|||
Can I make it another mile?
Do I even know where I'm heading?
This path that I chose
keeps leading me back
to a place where I've already been.
Is god playing tricks on me?
Has failure become an option?
I wish somebody would come along and
show me all the parts that
I've somehow been missing.
Because the tragedy of gravity
is the weight of this world holds me down
from where I thought I'd be,
when I ought to be
anywhere but this town.
Is it possible to get a timeout?
Do the rules ever get to change?
Nothing left to lose,
you hit the snooze
too many times and now you're running late.
Is it gonna kill you to give it one more try
or have you already cashed in your chips?
It's hard to walk away,
when the real pay
is that lingering presence of a simple twist of fate.
Because the tragedy of gravity
is the weight of this world holds me down
from where I thought I'd be,
when I ought to be
anywhere but this town.
Pick me up, pick me up, I'm ready to go.
Pick me up, pick me up, I'm ready to go.
Pick me up, pick me up, I'm ready to go.
So pick me up - I'm falling. I'm falling.
So pick me up - I'm falling. I'm falling.
I've tried and I've tried but all I seem to find,
with every passing day, I'm running out of time.
I need something else to turn this heart of mine around.
Because the tragedy of gravity
is the weight of this world holds me down
from where I thought I'd be,
when I ought to be
anywhere but this town.

Life is Good
03:05
|
|||
Life is good
though I don't often feel that way.
It's always in hindsight
even at the end of the day.
And I get frustrated,
the things I think to myself -
all the time that I've wasted,
as the pictures fade on the shelf.
But funny how I live my life
by the edge of the seat
hoping for that next day
to knock me off my feet.
What a good day, what a good day to say
life is good.
Life is good
though it's easy to forget
the little details
that make all the pieces fit.
Some days it feels like
I'm gonna lose my grip,
when I'm just about one more tidal wave
away from jumping ship.
But funny how a simple phone call
can turn it all around.
It's like a high five to my soul
from the minute I first touch down.
What a good day, what a good day to say
life is good.
And oh I've heard it about a million times
in a million songs with simple rhymes
about a simple world
where it doesn't seem
like the seams are all intact.
What does it mean?
What do they mean?
Well, life is good
and if you don't know what that means -
it's the good and the bad
and everything between.
It's the coming and going
of the people that you may know,
and it's the part of your life
when you learn to finally let go.
But funny how you think about
all the times that you've had...
Life is good.
Life is good.
What a good day, what a good day.
What a good day, what a good day.
Life is good.

Sweet Lonely Days
03:30
|
|||
Is it in me now
to step back and try to find a way out
of these situations that I get myself into
time and time again
when it feels like i just can't get ahead
of this repetitious circle that I've been living in.
Oh my sweet lonely days,
you are the best part of me
in all my entirety
when you're gone.
Is it safe to say
my bitter point of view gets the best of me
when all the pointless arguments never
never add up to anything
except the feeling that I don't know how to change
My sweet lonely days,
you are the best part of me
in all my entirety
when you're gone.
You really play it out...
